Define anatomy/physiology/pathophysiology/homeostasis
- Anatomy= the study of body structure
- Physiology= the function of body
- Pathophysiology=Improper function “what went wrong”
- Homeostasis= Stable, staying the same
Directional Terminology
- Anterior (Ventral)= “Front”
- Posterior (Dorsal)= “Back”
- Inferior= bottom
- Superior= top
- Lateral= away from midline (side)
- Medial =center or in the middle
- Proximal =close to attachment
- Distal= away from point of attachment
- Central= Part is IN center (The Heart)
- Peripheral= part is AWAY from center (blood vessels)
- Superficial= on or near body, above (Skin)
- Deep= away from surface of body, under (Bones)
