1. Functions of the cell membrane:

Answer homeostasis, transmits signals from outside the cell to the inside, provides a physical barrier between cell and environment

2. Homeostasis:

Answer regulates what can enter and exit the cell

3. Semi permeable:

Answer lows nutrients to enter and wastes to be expelled

4. Parts of the plasma membrane:

Answer phospholipid bilayer, transmembrane proteins, peripheral proteins, and cell recoginition

5. Phospholipid bilayer:

Answer a double layer of phospholipids that makes up plasma and organelle membranes

6. Transmembrane proteins:

Answer form channels through membranes

7. Peripheral proteins:

Answer on one side of membrane only --- cholesterols

8. Cell recognition:

Answer glycoproteins and glycolipids on the outside for cell recognition

9. Diffusion:

Answer movement of molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration
