Title: Electrochemistry
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to understand how redox
reactions occur and to see how the metal reactivity series can predict whether a reaction will occur
(1) Electrochemistry and REDOX reaction (2) Voltaic cells reaction process
Procedure:
(1) Electrochemistry #1
- Prepare a light bulb that lights up when there is electricity
- Contact a metal to the metal bars attached to the bulb and see if light appears in the bulb
- Test metal bars attached to the bulb into a beaker with water and see if light appears in the
- Test metal bars attached to the bulb into a beaker with water with dissolved
- Test metal bars attached to the bulb into a beaker with water with dissolved
- Test metal bars attached to the bulb into a beaker with soda(coke) and see if lights appears in
- Prepare a test tube with copper sulfate.
- Dip a nail into the tube, dip back into the tube after observing the first observation
- Then observe the nail and record reaction
- Prepare a test tube with HCl.
- Dip a magnesium ribbon into a tube
- Then observe and record reaction
