1.Scene size up: Saftey. Yes? No? Then make it safe. BSI gloves.

Number of patients. General impression (gender, age) chief complaint. MOI (mechanism of injury), AVPU (how alert are they)

2.Before coming of an ambulance always have: Body substance isolation

(BSI, gloves). Always assume body fluids are hazardous.

3.Triage: The process of sorting patients based on the severity of

each patients conditions.

4.Trauma: Outside force that caused injury to patient.

5.High priority (Load and Go): Uncontrollable breathing, missing limbs,

uncon- scious/unresponsive, cardiac/respiratory arrest, unmanageable 1 / 2

  • airway, major trau- ma.

6.Low priority (stay and play): Everybody else. Short of breath/chest

pain. Fall. Minor fracture. Minor trauma.

7.CUPS: Critical, Unstable, Potentially unstable, Stable

8.ABC: If patient has signs of life.

9.CBA: If patient appears lifeless, no pulse

10.AVPU: Alert, responsive, response to pain, unresponsive

11.Assess level of consciousness: Pinch earlobe, press down on bone

above eye, pinch neck muscles

12.Use jaw lift for?: Use technique for trauma patients

13.Use head tilt chin move for?: Use technique for medical patients
