1 .For treatment of existing osteo-porosis, the dose of alendronate 10 mg/day or 70 mg/week 2 .Initial dosage for bone less prevention alen-dronate and rise-dronate 5 mg/day or 35 mg/week 3 .For treatment of existing osteo-porosis, the dose of risedronate 75 mg for 2 consecutive days or 150 mg once a month 4 .Alendronate (Fosamax) Therapy with 10 mg daily can increase bone density by up to 10% after 3 years and can decrease vertebral and hip fractures by 50% 5 .Testosterone re- placement thera-py risk of prostate cancer 6 .Testosterone re- placement thera-py Erythrocytosis is a risk; Hgb and Hct levels checked, expect increase first 6 mths, unless Hgb level higher than 17.5 g/dL, Hct higher than 54%, or both suggests overtreatment or occasionally abuse. IM happens more than transdermal. If the Hct is greater than 54%, therapy is stopped until the Hct decreases to a safe level. The patient should also be evaluated for hypoxia and sleep apnea. Restarting therapy at a reduced dose usually solves prob-lems.7 .Adults with vita- min B12 deficien-cy that is not per-nicious anemia 1,000 mcg of oral cobalamin are given until normal B12 levels are achieved—usually 6 to 12 weeks. In seriously ill patients, both vitamin B12 and folic acid may need to be administered.8 .
