Your new ruler, however, is unknown and untested. Separating from Great Britain is not worth risk; it's more likely to destroy the land you've built than result in the glorious freedom you imagine." Dear cousin, Our independence fight against Great Britain must occur. It is a matter of freedom or slavery! In Patrick Henry's letter, he points that we shall be stronger here and right now. So we won't tolerate the exploration of the British, and we won't be submitted to the British rules such as the Stamp act or the prohibition to do commerce with other european states. In addition, American colonies gain nothing by being connected to Great Britain. For example, we could engage in trade on our own; Britain's interference only has to do with limiting our growth and power. And the injuries and disadvantages which we sustain by that connection, are without number. One reason to it, is because, any submission to, or dependence on, Great Britain, tends directly to involve this Continent in European wars, and set us at variance with nations who would otherwise seek our friendship. As Europe is our market for trade, we ought to form no partial connection with any part of it. It is the true interest of America to steer clear of European contentions, which she never can do, while havin the Great Britain as the sttler. Dear cousin, you might argue that Great Britain protects the American colonies so there's no logic to we get independence. In response to it,Thommas Paine in his letter Excerpts from Common Sense say proves the actual reason Great Britan protects us is for its own sake. The British do not defend the colonies out of kind feelings for the American colonists.To summarize, our independence must be guaranteed. The British domination is equal to slavery.We must fight for freedom and rule our own nose.
