• UAP can do ADL’s ambulating, bathing, feeding (as long as it’s stable pt), turning,

collection urine, input and output.• Patient safety • Contact precautions- Breach • Policies • LPN Role

• LPN/LVN’s can do dressing changes, and can be assigned the most stable patient with

the most predictable outcome. They cannot do any assessment or patient teaching. So if a patient is discharge, you cannot delegate that pt to a LPN/LVN because discharge needs patient teaching. They can also pass PO meds. They can do suctioning as long as it’s a stable patient.

• Routing wound care, routine med passes

• Medication Error

• Notify the health-care provider
• Document that they were notified and their response
• Tell your nursing supervisor/charge nurse
• Refuse to carry out the order

• Patient Leaving AMA (against medical advice)

• When a patient leaves a health care facility without a health care provider’s order for

discharge

• If client refuses treatment, will be asked to sign an “Against Medical Advice” form and

nurse must document information was provided and provider notified

• If client refuses to sign form, nurse must document
• If a client decided to leave the facility without discharge order, nurse must notify

provider and discuss risks of leaving prior to discharge
