NUR 1600 Terminology

  • Abdominal Distention
  • Answer Occurs when substances, such as air (gas) or fluid, accumulate in the abdomen causing its outward expansion beyond the normal girth of the stomach and waist

Can be caused by the seven F's

Fat, Fetus, Fluid, Flatulence (gas), Feces, Fibroid tumor, or Fatal tumor

  • Ascites
  • Answer accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity

  • Bruit
  • Answer Audible murmur (blowing sound) heard when auscultating over a peripheral vessel or organ

  • Diverticulitis

  • Hiatal hernia
