CHEM 121 Lab Report 4/ Reaction Chemistry - Portage Learning
Name:
Date:
Experiment: 4
Title: Reaction Chemistry
Purpose: In this experiment we will study the aspects of chemical reactions and learn exactly how each reaction takes place. We will learn how to detect chemical changes, exothermic and endothermic reactions as well as color change reactions and different reactions where precipitate forms etc.
Procedure:
Reaction #1 Double displacement reaction Mix of HCl and AgNO3
Reaction #2 Displacement Reaction Mix of Kl and Pb (NO3)2 which are two colorless solutions lead nitrate and potassium iodide
Reaction #3 Double Displacement Reaction w/ heat NaOH and HCl. Take the temperature before mixing each then add them to one another, mix then take down the final temperature.
Reaction #4 Acid-Base (Double Displacement) Mix HCl and NaHCO3
Reaction #5 Endothermic Reaction Heat is absorbed Take the initial temperature of each of the recant and then mix.Ammonium nitrate and Barium Hydroxide. Add some water and mix
Reaction #6 Single Displacement Reaction This has a positive or negative ion of a reactant compound.Mix HCl and colorless Zinc metal (grey color). Take the initial temperature before combining with the gas. Then after mixing the solutions, collect the final temperature
Reaction #7 Single Displacement Reaction Mixing Silver nitrate + copper which is a brown color. Then pour the copper into the beaker and it should react with another.
Reaction #8 Combustion (Burning) Reaction Potassium chlorate generates oxygen then the sparks allow the oxygen to burn then it causes the sulfur in the match to burn which results in the wood burning
